Description
Journey of the deer
by José Benitez Sánchez
Meaning print: On the coast there were many animals antagonistic "Urawe" wolf, "Tuwe" tiger, "Maye" the lion, "Haiku" blue water snake, and "Xaye" rattlesnake. There also lived three very young deer. The male was the largest, called Kauyumarie, "the elder brother".
Animals tried to kill Kauyumarie coast, to make an offering to the gods. But with the help of buzzard "Kukaiwa" Kauyumarie and sisters fled to the mountains and the desert Wirikuta. In the desert Kauyumarie acquired much wisdom and strength with the help of "Hikuri".
From there I return to the mountains, its current territory and from that first trip, Kauyumarie established the tradition of sacred Wirikuta way. Each year, when pilgrims returning from Wirikuta whole community takes part in Neixa Hikuri dance, recreating the image of a coiled snake. Men and women dance in a row following the pointer. Energy pateos of his sandals represent the deer jumps and provide communication with the gods.
